Ok, so by the time I'm actually writing this, we are back in school again. I think I can safely say that our school has won the record for the shortest summer ever. Our school year ended on August 6th and teacher prep week began on August 27th, with classes starting up again on September 3rd. No matter how much we all tried to hide that the summer was shorter than usual, the kids caught on. They are so smart!

In typical Ni
ños fashion, we celebrated the end of the school year with a party. The party began with a delicious meal shared by all of the teachers and the four houses. Once everyone had eaten their fill, the program began. The kindergarteners, the primary students, and the secondary students were all recognized and given a certificate for the work they had completed during the school year. This year, three students graduated from secondary and we celebrated their achievements with a cake. We also celebrated the two students who graduated from high school; they were both given digital cameras. As usual, my English classes performed at the party. This year instead of having my primary students and secondary students sing different songs, they all learned the same song and sang together. The song pick this year was the Glee cast version of "Lean on Me." The kids had a lot of fun with it; I even let them throw confetti on the audience at the end. It seemed like an appropriate way to celebrate the beginning of summer.
